How to add a game to your site
Google Sites
- Copy the code for the game you want.
- Open your page and choose Insert, then Embed.
- Pick the Embed code tab, paste the code, press Next and then Insert.
- Drag the box’s corner to make the game as big as you like, then publish the site.
Seesaw and Google Classroom
Seesaw activities and Google Classroom posts take links rather than embed code. Copy the address from inside the code, the part between the quotes after src=, such as https://www.spellcrush.fun/embed/spell-crush, and add it with the Link tool. Students open the game on its own, still with no sign-up.
WordPress, Blogger and other site builders
In WordPress, add a Custom HTML block and paste the code. In Blogger, switch the post to HTML view and paste it where the game should go. Wix, Squarespace, Weebly and most other builders have an Embed or HTML block that takes the same code.
Keep the line under the frame that names the game: it tells visitors where the game comes from.
Play one of our word lists
Every game here can play a word list from our grade, Year and sight word pages. Choose it in the Embed dialog, or add ?set= and the list’s code to the address in the embed code, for example https://www.spellcrush.fun/embed/spell-crush?set=3rd-grade-spelling-words. Words a game can’t play yet are left out, and a short round is topped up with our own words, marked as bonus words.

What an embedded game collects
- An anonymous count each time a game is started or finished, with the name of the website the game is on (for example “myschool.org”), so we know which sites use the games.
What it doesn’t
- No accounts, sign-ups or log-ins, so no names, email addresses or passwords.
- No cookies.
- No Google Analytics, advertising or tracking pixels.
- No ads.
Like any website, our servers see the device’s IP address and browser type when the game loads. We use them only to run the service and keep it secure, as our privacy policy says. Stars and best scores stay in the browser on that device.

Questions teachers ask
- Is it free?
- Yes. Every game on this page is free to embed and free to play, and none of them shows ads.
- Do students need an account?
- No. An embedded game always plays as a guest. There is nothing to sign in to, and it never asks students to sign up.
- Why is there no sound?
- Browsers only let a game make sound after someone taps it, so ask students to tap Play first. The code above also lets the frame play sound and go full screen; if you write your own frame, keep allow="autoplay; fullscreen" in it.
- Will students' progress be saved?
- Stars and best scores are kept in the browser on that device, separately for each website the game is on. Some browsers don't keep anything for a game inside another site, and then each visit starts fresh. Nothing is lost that matters: every level and round can be played again.
- Can I choose the words?
- Yes, from our lists: kindergarten to 5th grade, UK and Australian Year lists from Reception to Year 6, and the Dolch and Fry sight words. Pick one in the Embed dialog. Your own typed lists play in the games with a Premium account on spellcrush.fun, not in an embedded game.
- What size should the game be?
- Fits the page works for most class sites: it fills the column you paste it into, up to 960 pixels wide and 640 tall. Small (360 by 640) suits a narrow sidebar. You can always drag a Google Sites embed bigger.
- Why can't I embed every game?
- The games here keep going for as long as students like without an account. Our other games stop a device after a few plays a day unless someone signs in, which doesn't suit a class page, so they aren't offered for embedding.
